Pick-me-up nutrition-dense hot chocolate

VEGAN – GLUTEN FREE – OIL FREE – SOY FREE

Not your typical hot chocolate, this lightly sweetened drink is packed with super foods including chaga, maca, turmeric and raw cacao powder – the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

PREP: 3 MINUTES – COOKING: 10 MINUTES – PORTIONS: 6

INGREDIENTS
1 chunk chaga
4 cups water
3 cups almond milk
½ cup raw cacao powder
2 tbsp maca powder
1½ tsp turmeric
Cup maple syrup or to taste

PREPARATION
  1. Place chaga and water in pot and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. The water will become dark brown as the chaga releases its nutrients. Remove chaga and freeze it in a small plastic bag (you can re-use it twice).
  2. Add all other ingredients to pot and heat through, whisking to dissolve any clumps. Serve immediately. You can keep any leftover chocolate milk in the fridge for up to 5 days and reheat gently before serving
